Filipino love affair with music
What can anyone say when it comes to Filipinos and their love for music? Filipinos since
time immemorial in war or in peace made music the touchstone of their souls. The life of a
Filipino can never be without music from any and many sources, musical instruments,
vocals, original compositions, native dances, radio, discotheques, pubs, bars, stage
shows, television, videos, catwalks, film, or even the humming coming from their mothers
or their "yayas" (governesses) who lull them to sleep with some of the world's
most melodious tunes.
