Visayanet Radio is an internet community radio station serving Filipinos, Fil/Ams, Fil/Cans, and all Filipinos worldwide via the Internet. A volunteer operation and non-profit for seven years, we broadcast 24/7 through Live365.com. Our staff, comprised of fans, followers and generous souls who take turns volunteering their time and efforts happily make sure that Visayanet.Com & Visayanet Radio function properly. As a non-commercial radio station, we will concentrate on airing Visayan music and Visayan Stars plus our special feature stars. We believe that the Visayan market has not been getting its fair share on the airwaves. These include local musical talents as well as talents from the Philippines and abroad. We will also broadcast independent music by other independent artists. The vast majority of shows is our own production and produced locally by our volunteer staff. We hope that eventually we will have enough budget to begin cultural programming as one of the key ingredients in our daily broadcast schedule. That will depend on donations and sponsorship from our kind listeners. We are especially sensitive to the difficulties faced by independent record labels. We believe a in internet station such as ours has a special obligation to ensure that local singers, bands, composers, musicians and other artists have an opportunity to be heard. We hope to someday start a station fund raising activity that will include, but not be limited to: a) solicitations from listeners, b) merchandise sales, c) the sponsoring of concerts and lectures. We are in the process of applying for a tax-exempt status, though neither the acceptance nor rejection of such application, nor the acceptance or rejection of any grant applications, will alter the values and ideals outlined in this mission statement.
We also believe that a community station such as ours should provide opportunities to members of the community, particularly the young talents who wish to feature their works online on our station and on our official website. We will endeavor, whenever possible, to make our Internet station and website available for this purpose. Indeed we regard volunteers for articles, broadcasting materials, etc. as an invaluable resource. Such volunteers will be an integral part of our operation. As an association, we are non-racist, non-sexist and non-violent. We welcome participants of all ages and sexual orientations.
